Here are my nine beauty favourites of the year.
1. Living Proof Full Conditioner
I bought this conditioner earlier in the year when I accidentally gave myself hot roots. I was convinced that my hair will crumble and I would start shedding more hair than usual. I was so convinced by this thought that the following week I went straight to Mecca to purchase the it. I purchased this due to the fact it stated ‘apply to roots’ and ‘colour safe and sulfate free’. However, this conditioner contains a lot more positives including:
- a lovely fragrance that actually reminded me of Hong Kong beauty department stores,
- cool technology that made my hair feel light after washing it out from my roots.
- it did what it stated and that is it left my hair feeling velvety and soft.
Two negatives: the price is higher than your average conditioner from Priceline. It is now no longer available to purchase in Australia- you gotta go online and order it.
2. The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Butter
I’ve always loved The Body Shop’s body butters. However I loved this one more than the others because it smelt like the Living Proof Full Conditioner. It does exactly what it says on the box.
3. The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub
I bought this in winter in preparation for summer. I wanted smooth, hydrated legs in winter so that I didn’t have to do much of anything when it was time to whip out the legs. I enjoy using this scrub on dry legs for a thorough exfoliation. The shea butter keeps it soft and if your add on some body butter, legs hydrated for days.
4. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment
This is the best eye cream that I’ve ever used. It doesn’t smell foul, it does exactly what it says on the box – hydrates the eye area. It has fixed up my dry flaky under eyes. I’m sure there are other ones which are less expensive and works equally well, but this one just does it for me.
5. The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter
I’ve re-purchased this three times now. It’s that great. I have dehydrated skin and this cleanser does not strip of the oils off my skin. It kind of just melts away all the make up – including waterproof mascara.
6. Dr Jart+ Most Moist Water-Sure Gel Cream
I purchased the travel size of this cream in Hong Kong in a store called Sasa. It’s a gel moisturiser that sinks straight into the skin. Maybe that’s because I have dehydrated skin? I just love how it absorbs so quickly and plumps up my skin. However, it smells strongly of lavender which may be off putting to some people.
7. Clio Salon de Cara Roll Brush
This is my favourite mascara this year. I purchased this in Seoul, Lisa Eldridge has recommended it so of course I bought it. The brush is like a bristle hair brush. It separates each individual lash, making it look more natural. The formula is great, it’s not clumpy, it seems to keep the curls in. The best thing is that it does not smudge (on me).
8. Copperplate by MAC
This shadow is a matte pigment which is perfect for individuals who have dark asian hair. It’s a brown shadow with a grey undertone. I’ve been reaching for this everyday whenever I do my brows. No more reddish toned brows!
9. Beauty Blender
I only just recently got into this tool! It is the best thing ever. No more streaky foundations or cakey makeup. My thickest full coverage foundation, is like the sheerest thing whenever use this. Don’t even think about looking for a ‘dupe’ because the real thing is really worth it. I’m serious.
